Living legends

Immortality may seem impossible, but each person lives as a walking epitaph to the ones who have impacted their existence and the existence of those who affected them; albeit a celebrity, public worker, family member or even teacher. Carnegie Mellon University professor Randy Pausch, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, took it upon himself to reach out to a large audience.

Dear Barack,

I hope you don't mind that I call you Barack after almost two years of us getting to know each other. You have been courting me, after all. "Change is coming," you say. Your slogan caught on. Off Pacific Coast Highway, between Ramirez Canyon Road and Laitgo Canyon Road, is a private street called East Winding Way.

"Dissent is the most American value." The candid words of Pierce College student Danielle Gresham, 19, rang through the shouting crowds at a Hollywood protest marking the five-year anniversary of the Iraq War. Gresham, pictured above center, has been an activist since she was 13, after discovering punk music and being influenced by its focus on citizen rights and freedom.

‘La La Lost’ finds fans

The April 10 CD release party for "La La Lost" by Arrica Rose and the ...'s was an intimate yet lively gathering at the Hotel Café on the Cahuenga Strip, a venue that perfectly showcased the range of the little-known group's new album. A hip, artsy crowd gathered in the small, dimly lit room.
