Armin van Buuren – A State of Trance – 2007 – “LIGHT THE SKIES”

Known globally for his impressive live performances, top quality recorded sound technology and multiple awards including “#2 DJ in the world,” Armin Van Buuren has outdone himself yet again.

“A State of Trance 2007,” released June 5, 2007, features talent from 27 artists, including Van Buuren himself. The two-disc compilation contains 28 tracks of progressive trance, completely remixed by Van Burren. Distributed under the label Armada Music, the two hour 31 minute album seamlessly flows from track to track in a tranquil, constant mix.

The Dutch DJ has worked with several world-renounced producers such as Tiesto and Gareth Emery. Van Buuren is one of the leading artists in electronic dance music today, and has been drawing a multitude of American fans from Los Angeles to Miami in recent years. Van Buuren received “Best Compilation” at the Miami Winter Conference for his “A State of Trance 2006.” He also won “Best Mixed Radio Show” for “A State of Trance 2007.”

Disc one, titled “On the beach,” consists of 12 tracks, many containing breathy female and male vocalists. Song one, “Light the Skies,” by Mitiska and Jaren Cerf, is the perfect way to uplift any day with the complete lyrics being “and if you only knew just how much the sun needs you to help him light the skies, you would be surprised.” My favorite track on disc one is “Who will find me,” by DJ Shah featuring Adrina Thorpe. The vocals and synthesizers blend in a melodic style, progressively leading into the next song.

The second disc, called “In the club,” focuses less on vocals and more on vigorous, hard trance. The first two tracks on disc two are produced by Van Buuren and are a strong introduction to the following 14 songs. This disc is the ideal way to get any club moving or any party started. “One more night out,” by Sean Tyas featuring Logistic, closes disc two in a harmonious style, leaving the listener yearning for more talent from Van Buuren.

Whether getting ready for work, in the office or driving in the car, “A State of Trance 2007,” sets the mood for a beautiful day or evening. The tasteful way in which the album is put together provides a soothing background to any daily setting.

Only slightly less popular than the worlds #1 DJ, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren has been climbing his way up the ropes of success and fame since his “A State of Trance 2004.” Back by popular demand, he played at Giant Village, New Years Eve in downtown LA. Having headlined the show for several years already, Van Buuren’s genius capabilities to entrance audiences for up to half a day non-stop, keeps his fan-base strong.

“A State of Trance 2007” is a gorgeous record with a well thought out discography and exceptional mix of top trance talent.
