Makings of a good story

Hello fellow bloggers and welcome back! So as of last time our stories for The Bull Magazine lead my classmates and I to places we’ve never been, which allowed us to meet new and interesting people.
But along this path, we’ve found that at times finding and writing a good story can require a lot of work and digging. There is a right amount of persistence along with a wrong amount.
Interviewing was foreign for many other newbies like myself in the class. Regardless we’ve put our fears aside and progressed, some slow, some faster than others. Throughout all the searching, the scheduling, the interviewing, to the moment we sit down and write, every detail that we’ve not only observed but also learned must be correctly placed within the story.
But how does one know what to add and what to subtract from the story? What is it that we are trying to say, and what is the underlining message?
What does it take to make a write a good story?
So far I’ve found that asking the right questions, along with asking the wrong questions are both part of a learning process to become a better writer. Some interviews went extremely well, while others lacked in information. Either way this is what it takes to write that one good story. One must make mistakes and possibly write countless drafts, but overall what it takes is determination and not giving up.
Now, will my story be a good one or not? That question can only be answered by staying tuned and keeping up with this blog, or just read the final product.
Till then, Ana signing out.
