Get ready, set, blog!
Welcome! My name is Ana, I am a newbie at blogging so I’ll try to keep this quick and painless. I am currently writing for The Bull magazine, a semesterly printed magazine at Pierce College.
This semester our theme is on subcultures. If anyone out there is like me and isn’t too familiar with many subcultures, there are certainly
a vast variety of them out there.
They range from a melting pot of different cultures in and around our everyday lives. Some of which we may not be aware of or know exist at all. Then some that we come across so often that we do not stop to notice what these subcultures could have to offer, let alone teach us.
I’ve chosen to write about not only a subculture but a whole different way of living. There are many life styles out there and so many kinds of people with different interests and points of views. But imagine a world where you just don’t fit in. Literally, I’m talking about little people!
Our world is basically made for a person who grows to be at least five feet tall or taller. Could you imagine living a life that must be tailored to your exact body size and type? Where you just don’t fit in?
Ok so once I decided on my topic, which was not an easy task, a friend and I set out on foot to try and find someone on campus who is a little person. At first it seemed like we’d never find someone and only once we had already given up the search did we notice a student making her way across campus.
My friend and I were both nervous and hesitant about approach this girl, but newbies or not our intimidation did not get in the way! We reached out and sure enough we got her information. She seemed a bit intimidated as well but overall we made a connection and I am looking forward to getting an insight into her world and marvel at a whole new perspective on life!
So stay tuned in! I will post updates as I dive into another person’s perception and learn a thing or two about a not so common but definitely melting pot subculture.
Till then, this is newbie for now, Ana sighing out!
