A pleasant place to have breakfast or lunch is waiting up Topanga Canyon toward the beach called Pat’s Topanga Grill. Only five minutes from Ventura Boulevard, the eatery is open as early as 7 a.m. You will see the beautiful scenery of the San Fernando Valley on the path too a rustic retreat.
The restaurant walls are lined with pictures of celebrities who have dined there, including Kate Hudson, Wendie Malick, Vinessa Shaw, Rosanna Arquette, Phil Jackson and The Foo Fighters.
There are many beautiful paintings on the walls, mostly done by the owner Pat Burke.
The lunch menu consists of sandwiches, salads and burgers. The sandwiches are served with a side of potato salad, arranged on a beautiful white porcelain plate, making the dish look clean and appealing.
The potato salad is full of spices, but the sour aftertaste of the mayonnaise shadows the intricacies of the salad. The tuna sandwich on the other hand is delicious. The bread is soft and moist, but sturdy enough so it doesn’t fall apart when eating. The tuna could use a pinch of salt, which is good for those who have to watch their diets or sodium intake. Add a bit if necessary.
Pat’s does not provide Wi-Fi, but it’s a place to get away from technology and to relax. Anyone who wants a good breakfast or lunch, won’t regret the trip to Pat’s.
