Update for “Top Ten Places” List

First I would like to thank everyone for responding to my previous post with such fervor. I did not expect to receive so many messages in my gmail inbox; it was a great shock. Thank you for your enthusiasm!

Likewise I have been keeping tallies as promised and so far these are the top locations.

TOKYO, JAPAN, BERLIN, GERMANY and LONDON, ENGLAND: tied with 12 votes each

PARIS, FRANCE, MONACO, and SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: tied with 10 votes each

VENICE, ITALY, DARWIN, AUSTRALIA, and MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: tied with 9 votes each

BEIJING and SHANGHAI, CHINA: tied with 8.5 votes each

CAIRO, EGYPT, KYOTO, JAPAN, SOMERSET, ENGLAND, and THAILAND: tied with 7 votes each

SAN FRANCISCO, USA, IRELANDSCOTLANDSTOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, HAMBURG, GERMANY, and ROME, ITALY: tied with 6 votes each

DENMARKSWITZERLANDSALZBURG, AUSTRIA, INDIANAGASAKI, JAPAN, and OSAKA, JAPAN: tied with 5 votes each

ICELANDWALESHALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA, MONTREAL, CANADA, and ALASKA, USA: tied with 3.5 votes each

To those who submitted Edo, Japan, Prussia, Shambala, Pompeii, Troy, and various others, I share your enthusiasm for the ancient world (and possibly fictitious locales) but I am considering only the locations that can be visited in modern times. I include Edo, Japan because although it technically does still exist the name itself has changed to Kyoto (which is listed among the choices). So whereas Edo does not exist anymore, Kyoto does.

Once more, I thank you all for your eager participation in this group blog project. It is truly humbling and motivating to know that so many of you are reading these posts.

Stay lovely and stay strange

Your liaison,

Mars
