The mode professor

Rushing from an interview of a Pierce College student from the theater department, I settle into my seat in Communications 101. As I wait for class to begin, I notice Professor Burcak Aydin’s pointed toe stilettoes from Zara. My eye goes up to her straight leg pants and satin embroidered blouse.

As Aydin waits for class to begin, she is intensely typing away on her iPhone. She comes to class prepared and stylish with her Louis Vuitton messenger bag that holds her laptop and other essentials for class.

Her hair is pinned back from the front in twist leading to a chignon bun. As usual, right as 12:45 p.m. arrives, she puts down her phone and gets straight to business.

Aydin’s inspiration this morning for her outfit was first comfort then style.

“I was looking for something that would be comfortable to wear,” she said.

Aydin is originally from Istanbul, Turkey, but has lived in America for the last few years. She is the only one from her family living in the United States and loves her job as a professor.

Aydin admits that the downfall of being a stylish professor is that form comes before function, and by the end of a long day with many classes and campuses she teaches, her feet are begging for a massage.
