Review: 24 Hot Chicken & Waffle Bar

24 Hot Chicken & Waffle Bar may very well be the quarantine spot to order from.

The entire world is experiencing a global pandemic that has required most people to stay home. And while many are probably worried, anxious and fearful of what’s to come in the future, this hot chicken and waffle bar provides the tastiest comfort food for such a stressful time.

From the website to the social media accounts to the actual restaurant, 24 Hot Chicken & Waffle Bar seems to specialize in simplicity. Besides the logo hanging up inside the restaurant, the walls inside are bare. Their Instagram contains only photos of their food, no people, just chicken. Their menu also mimics this minimal style as well.

The menu is concise and easy to read, as the entire menu fits on a single sheet of paper, and doesn’t even use all the room applicable. The descriptions are seemingly unnecessary as the food (chicken) pretty much speaks for itself. Some items featured are jumbo chicken tenders, 6-10 piece wings, chicken and waffles and chicken tacos. There are also no pictures of these items.

Having no pictures and a simple menu allows for the customer to get right to the point, making the ordering process a very simple and easy experience. And although the brand of this chicken and waffle bar lacks intrigue or detail, the food itself delivered a medley of successfully paired spices and seasonings, leaving one to come to the conclusion that the detail was, in fact, hidden in the food.

The crispy, well-seasoned shake fries were evenly cooked, crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The portion of fries that come with the meal is pretty generous and filling.

The hot chicken, though not spicy, was served nice and hot in temperature, truly solidifying the name of the restaurant. The honey butter chicken sandwich was nothing less than satisfying and superb.

The chicken was very crunchy, but not burned. The crunch was consistent, coating the entire chicken breast in a crispy and savory layer. The chicken was juicy, thick and mouthwatering, leaving nothing to be desired. The chicken breast was slightly bigger than the bun, which secured a delightful, tender bite of chicken left on the plate, once the sandwich was finished, as opposed to there being an extra piece of bread.

The buns lived up to the “honey-butter” aspect of its menu name, being that it was soft, warm, slightly greasy, but perfectly paired with the massive, succulent chicken breast in between them.

On top of the hot chicken breast were a few thinly-cut, pickles, not too thick, not too dry, and drenched in their “House Comeback Sauce.” The sauce was rich, thick and dark orange, filled with an array of seasonings that only amplified the symphony of spices that topped the accompanied side of shake fries.

This chicken and waffle bar also features a new vegan fried chicken option on the menu so that all may enjoy their tasty recipe!

A meal from 24 Hot Chicken & Waffle Bar provides the simplicity, comfort and consistency needed in a time such as this, making it the perfect quarantine meal to indulge in.
