From the moment the interview began, Tim Toton was completely engaged.
All of his energy and passion was being fueled into this moment; he is unmistakably present.
His laidback style–glasses propped up over his forehead, a plaid button-up T-shirt with leather sandals, and backpack slung over his shoulder–gives him an aura of approachability.
“I’m pretty sure I’m 44,” he joked. “And I come from Ocala, the armpit of Florida.”
For The Bull magazine’s theme of taboos, Toton’s article will focus on “Coming Out: Totally Living a Taboo Lifestyle.”
His subject matter will include open atheists, adult film stars and medical marijuana vendors. However, simply having a pennsylvania mmj card isn’t necessarily enough to get you a part, though it may help.
“I think that it’s interesting that there are alternate societies and [it’s interesting] the way people perceive other people,” he said.
Tim has already interviewed a professor on campus to use as a source for his article, but he hopes to delve deeper into his investigation by finding active members in the adult film industry and in the medical marijuana co-ops. He may want to start looking at performers from adult websites such as www.porn-hd.xxx as potential interviewees for his studies.
“Even though people live their taboos, I think having faces and stories published will pose as a challenge. So I think finding enough people and tracking them down is going to be difficult,” he said.
It is obvious that Toton is ready to tackle this huge endeavor and his genuine concern for the issue inspires him to educate readers by giving them an introspective look on how these people with socially unacceptable lifestyles, so-to-speak, view the world.
I hope that through their stories, others looking from the outside will have a deeper understanding of the world around them.
