Rough times lead Garland Rescue to the front line for man's best friend.

Buy A Bowtie, Take A Top Off

Panic washes over 21-year-old Alex Koontz when the idea of going to the bathroom approaches. Koontz barely ever passes as a guy so going into the men’s restroom is extremely stressful. It’s even worse to use the woman’s restroom with all the stares and constant whispers. Keeping his eyes to the ground and doing what has to be done is Koontz’s only way out.

Fantastic Oddities

Judging a book by its cover, it looks like they are just playing and running around the studio while Ellie Goulding’s “On My Mind” is playing in the background. These children, wearing just their socks, leggings and tank tops, have their hair tied up, regardless if it’s nicely done, or just in a messy bun. Some of them are...

In Roman history, Pliny the Younger, an author and statesman, recorded one of the first notable ghost stories in the first century A.D. As the years have gone by the...

Spray Paint Maven

A 7-year-old stuck at a railroad crossing stands along a stretch of metal tracks that extend as far as the eye can see. A swiftly approaching train of 70-plus graffiti-cloaked cars—painted with culture and history—flies by the face of a child, offering her first glimpse into the world of street art. The impression that blossomed at the train tracks stayed...

The nurse with the green bandana

Throughout the summer, Waite protested and marched around the Los Angeles area, including Venice Beach and Long Beach. At the events, Waite and her fellow activists hand out stickers and flyers to people sitting at outdoor cafes and looky-loos.

The Fight is Female

Stationed at a table in the corner of a small bakery, ringlets of reddish curls spilled over a white ruffled blouse tucked under a crisp dark blue business jacket. Eyes glued to an iPhone, a slender finger scroll through pages of a digital report stopping every few lines, committing the information to memory in preparation for a speaking engagement. The...
